Winter Warmer

Dare we believe that the days are getting slightly longer? Even by just the smallest amount? I think we can, but let's face it there's still a long way to go until the warmer, lighter days of spring.

Chinese Medicine has a lot to say about winter and the best way to look after ourselves during the cold, dark months. Winter is considered to be the season when our Kidney energy is at its lowest ebb. Our Kidneys are our powerhouses, the 'Gate of Life', and need to be really looked after at this time of year. Therefore, emphasis is placed on rest, warmth, stillness and storage; this is the time to lie low, wrap up warm and conserve our energy.

Acupuncture is a great way of keeping that Kidney energy topped up, as is making sure we eat the right foods. So why not turn the heating up a notch, book yourself a course of acupuncture and treat yourself to the following delicious and nourishing soup recipe. It's a real favourite of mine and I hope you enjoy it.
