Acupuncture for Menopause

8 out of 10 women will experience menopausal symptoms, some of them severe, as their bodies cease to produce oestrogen.

That’s an awful lot of us going about our daily lives feeling below par.

Beginning on average 1-2 years before the cessation of periods, the most commonly experienced symptoms are hot flushes, night sweats, anxiety, ‘brain fog’, weight gain and loss of libido.  But there are in fact 34 recognised symptoms of the menopause, many of them rarely talked about.  Not only that, these symptoms can continue for an average of 3-5 years after menstruation ceases and, on rarer occasions, even longer.

Chinese Medicine views the menopause differently to the West.  Far from looking upon it as something to be fixed, it rightly acknowledges it as a natural process and the gateway to a new age. I view it as an exciting time; a time for women, after an adult life filled with giving, to finally focus on themselves and to ensure optimum health and wellbeing for the next stage of life.

Acupuncture is a gentle and natural way to ease menopausal symptoms, and can make the period of transition from one stage of life to the next more comfortable and manageable.

Sessions focus on easing stress and anxiety, ridding the body of feelings of heat, and nourishing the system.  Treatment also incorporates dietary advice, advice on supplements, sleep improvement, beneficial types of exercise and where to find support, making it a truly holistic approach.

See the Prices page for details of the menopause treatment package.
